Description

This half day course progresses to more advanced material, providing further options and challenges on the mat for highly conditioned clients. Exercises require a high degree of strength, balance and coordination. Also taught:

  • Muscular initiation and sequencing of Advanced-level exercises
  • 14 exercises Advanced exercises on Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Arc Barrel
  • Plus modifications using the Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Arc Barrel for the highly conditioned client.

Description

This course is intended for those with a passion for fitness and movement. Conducted over 50 hours, typically 4 weekends. This course teaches you to design and lead the Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Reformer repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Reformer programs.

  • The STOTT PILATES Five Basic Principles
  • Essential, Intermediate, Power workouts
  • Effective use of the reformer to enhance torso stability and strength, peripheral extremity conditioning, joint stability, flexibility, balance and coordination
  • Effective communication and observational skills
  • Verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
  • Theory and practice of postural analysis
  • 139 exercises plus modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
  • How to incorporate resistance equipment to support and intensify exercises
  • Exercise layering related to effective program design
  • Workout composition for personal and group training

Prerequisites

Working knowledge of functional anatomy (or willingness to invest time prior or during the course to learn it). Minimum 30 hours Pilates classes/workouts.

Description

Designed for fitness, medical and therapy professionals, Merrithew™ Fascial Movement workshops and courses explore the latest research findings on the neuromyofascial skeletal system.

With an emphasis on movement variables including Bounce, Sense, Expand and Hydrate, Merrithew Fascial Movement training offers a thorough understanding of what fascia is, what it does, how it moves and how to work with it across a range of varying modalities.

Upon completion of the Instructor Course, participants will be able to incorporate content taught in the course to their existing qualifications/training and can use the term “trained in Merrithew™ Fascial Movement”.

General Program Objectives:

  • Identify the components of fascia and be able to explain its role and relevance to movement.
  • Articulate the difference between tensegrity and traditional force and lever-based biomechanics.
  • Define and explore fascial movement variables such as Bounce, Sense, Expand & Hydrate.
  • Develop programs for clients of all levels integrating specific fascial movement variables.

Foundation Course

Fascia, the most ubiquitous connective tissue in the body, is creating a buzz in the fitness industry. The importance of this multi-faceted network is only starting to be understood. The Merrithew Fascial Movement Foundation Course, Level 1 is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness, therapeutic movement and rehabilitation, and provides some insight as to how movement affects and is affected by fascia. The initial lecture component of the course reviews basic fascial anatomy and physiology and explores the latest research findings on the neuromyofascial skeletal system. The application component of the course introduces movement variables including Bounce, Sense, Expand and Hydrate; and shows how they can be applied to all forms of exercise including Pilates, yoga, dance, athletic conditioning, sports performance, and rehabilitation.

Description

In this workshop, developed by the Merrithew team, participants learn innovative new programming on the Reformer and Cardio-Tramp® Rebounder. The workout, designed to stimulate both cardiovascular and muscular effectiveness is ideal for both the recreational and professional athlete. Discover how to combine progressive plyometric intervals, varying both in length and intensity, with muscular strength and endurance moves on the vertical mini trampoline. The routine features non-traditional Pilates exercises that use the incredible diversity of the Reformer to effectively train both concentric and eccentric muscular ability.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Apply the Five Basic Principles of the STOTT PILATES® method to targeted exercises on the Cardio-Tramp.
  2. Understand movement essence and exercise goals as applied to athletic conditioning.
  3. Explore how the Cardio-Tramp can be beneficial to athletic training.
