Description

ICAD prepares you to teach Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) exercises on the Cadillac. By the end of this course you will be able to fine-tune personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of clients’ conditioning goals with 125 exercises on the Cadillac Trapeze Table. In addition to the general course objectives, you will learn:

  • Effective use of the equipment to enhance torso stability and strength, peripheral extremity conditioning, joint stability, flexibility, balance and coordination
  • How to develop dynamic programs in a full studio environment
  • Essential and Intermediate exercises and variations
  • Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation

Intensive Mat-Plus (IMP) provides you with the solid foundation and skills you need to develop effective and motivating group and personal training programs. This course teaches you to design and teach the Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) Matwork repertoire, integrating light accessories to add variety and meet the specific needs of your clients. The Rotational Disks add variety and challenge to Matwork at any level. Used alone or in pairs, they are perfect for testing balance and stability. In this workshop, developed by the MERRITHEW™ team, exercises are performed supine, prone, standing, and kneeling as well as on hands and knees, isolating movement to upper or lower torso. The highly moveable disks create instability, challenging unilateral and bilateral stabilization to resist undesirable movements. They can also be used to allow greater ranges of rotation or lateral flexion through the spine.

Description

The CORE Athletic Conditioning & Performance Training Program is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement with an interest in training their athlete clients more effectively. The focus is on expanding student’s current knowledge while delivering complete instruction in the CORE foundational principles along with the components and theory of various athletic conditioning and performance training methodologies.

Emphasis on cueing, biomechanics, proper form, and modifications are some of major points that separate the CORE program from other training programs.

After completing this program students will be prepared to teach two complete workouts; a Muscular Endurance Interval Training Workout and an Interval Training Workout focusing on Strength, Power and Balance.

Our CORE program provides a balanced and thorough blend of theory, observation and practical experience to help you master the repertoire.

General Program Objectives:

  • Apply the Core Principles to a variety of exercises on the Mat.
  • Learn how simple exercises can be used in a fitness-based workout and understand how the movements can be used for sport-specific training.
  • Learn how to cue exercises to maintain safety and effectiveness.
  • Discover how to create programs that improve functionality and performance.
  • Learn how to add variety and challenge to traditional conditioning moves.

Foundation Course

This course introduces important concepts of athletic conditioning and performance training and emphasis is placed on utilizing 11 Foundational Principles when training athletes. The principles cover alignment and biomechanics for the major joints involved in athletic performance as well as understanding how to train the three classifications of muscles for optimal performance. In addition, components of athletic conditioning are overviewed including resistance training methods, plyometric training, balance training, and speed & agility training. Performance training concepts such as periodization are also introduced.

What you will learn:

  • The process of improving various general components of fitness through a well-designed athletic conditioning program in order to enhance athletic performance.
  • The components of the CORE program including strength, flexibility, dynamic stabilization, speed, agility, power, and endurance.
  • The process of improving specific components of a sport or activity through various means of performance training.
  • The importance of having a comprehensive understanding of the sport involved including the physical, energy and biomechanical demands as well as the performance schedule.
  • Two workouts; a 45-minute Muscular Endurance Interval Training Workout and a 45-minute Interval Training Workout focusing on Strength, Power and Balance.

Requirements of Qualification:

This course is intended for those already working in the fields of fitness or movement (personal training and/or strength conditioning experience) however, all those interested in this material are encouraged to participate.

Description

This course is intended for those with a passion for fitness and movement. Conducted over 50 hours, typically 4 weekends. This course teaches you to design and lead the Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Reformer repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Reformer programs.

  • The STOTT PILATES Five Basic Principles
  • Essential, Intermediate, Power workouts
  • Effective use of the reformer to enhance torso stability and strength, peripheral extremity conditioning, joint stability, flexibility, balance and coordination
  • Effective communication and observational skills

Description

Intensive Mat-Plus (IMP) provides you with the solid foundation and skills you need to develop effective and motivating group and personal training programs. This course teaches you to design and teach the Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) Matwork repertoire, integrating light accessories to add variety and meet the specific needs of your clients. In addition to the general course objectives, you will learn:

  • Workout composition for personal and group training
  • Essential, Intermediate, Power workouts
  • Flex-Band®, Fitness Circle® and Arc Barrel® workouts
  • Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
  • Modifications for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
  • How to incorporate resistance equipment to support and intensify exercises
  • Theory and practice of postural analysis
  • Exercise layering related to effective program design
  • 63 exercises plus multiple modifications

Prerequisites
Working knowledge of functional anatomy (or willingness to invest time prior or during the course to learn it). Minimum 30 hours Pilates classes/workouts.

IMP module 1 provides the solid foundation and skills needed to develop effective personal training programs. Learn to design and teach the Essential portion of the Level 1 repertoire with 38 unique exercises plus multiple modifications and progressions.

Module 2 3-Day Schedule

IMP Day 6: Fri, December 8, 2017, 2016, 1:00pm – 6:30pm
IMP Day 7: Sat, December 9, 2017, 12:00pm – 5:30pm
IMP Day 8: Sun, December 10, 2017, 9:00am – 2:30pm

IMP module 2 expands on the foundation and skills developed in the first segment as you learn to design programs incorporating the Intermediate repertoire. Learn 25 unique exercises plus multiple modifications and progressions.

  • 40 hours of instruction and supervised teaching
  • Minimum of 10 hours of observation
  • Minimum of 30 hours of physical review
  • Minimum of 15 hours of practice teaching
  • Total: 95 hours

In addition to the in-course hours, you will also compete on your own and within 6-months of course completion observation, physical review, and practice teaching hours.
